To the members of the Texas Junior College Student Government Association:

The 1998 state convention is now behind us, and judging from the comments on the guestbook, it seems that everyone had a great time. Attendance was much higher than originally expected, and with 46 schools and over 450 participants, it was also one of the largest and most representative conventions ever held.

A great deal of work went into making last year and the 1997- 1998 convention a success, and I can assure you that your 1998-1999 executive board is working just as hard to make this year one to remember. Kingwood College is already preparing a bulletin, Charlie and the folks at Panola are lining up speakers and workshop leaders, and the FPC gang members are getting ready to party like it's 1999.

As an association, however, we're not JUST about going to conventions. We are in a unique position to express the concerns of college students to the state and federal governments. We as an executive board have some idea of what issues we should be addressing, but it's far from a complete list. Please take the time to speak with students on your campuses and then tell us what they are.

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of this year, and that you're as excited as I am about doing whatever it takes to make 1998-1999 the best, most productive year in TJCSGA history. If any one of us on the executive board can be of any assistance, don't hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,

Trey Morris
